The Commander's Problem

Shepard woke up like every other morning, with emptiness in his mind, just another day he finally thought. He got up hesitantly, and steadily walked towards the window, gazing outside observing the scenery, he noticed a face on the street below his apartment building that looked similar to his old friend Jin. Immediately thoughts came racing back and Shepard was pulled back into last night's dream.

Known each other since highschool, through army training, especially within the elite forces training, where the bond was drawn closer. Life would be a different story without Jin, Shepard twenty eight years old at the time wondered as the normandy's shuttle descended from the normandy itself towards the dense widespread bushlands belonging to the planet Zerg, in the Batarian solar system.

"Have you noticed a strange sense flowing from this place? it feels as we don't belong here" expressed Jin.

"But this is what I've been training for every damn day since my introduction, this is my dream, my passion in life".

The vibe suddenly picked up as a hint of motivation was sensed within the airlocked room. The fourteen men specifically chosen for this mission shared similar desires of the frontlines in the unexplored territories of intergalatic space especially Jin and Shepard. Confident and prepared, stage one was ready to be ignitiated. The shuttle was approaching destination at a patch of exotic form of grass, the unknown was expected and the squad knew death was always an option, "not today" Shepard was thinking.

"Men our efforts today will benefit the future and safety for generations to come, so let us show the world why we were the ones for the job" commanded the captain.

"This is what we have lived for!" Jin filled with emotion told the composed Shepard.

All of a sudden louds shots were heard "boom, boom!" as Jin jumped off the shuttle, proudly taking the first leap on to alien soil. Next moment though, Jin fell flat faced down on to the alien surface, still as a statue, Shepard witnessed...

Shepard instantly woke up from the trance, shocked and confused. The sudden impact the memory gave was torture, the pain was too deep, even though he was greatly regarded as the most respectable person in the world, the brain was getting the better of Shepard.

Shepard was suffering from post-war traumatic stress disorder, he couldn't take it anymore. No Normandy, no wife, family is dead, no contact with associates, did not focus at work. He was not the same old Commander Shepard that everyone knew, the saviour that rescued the galaxies from the ancient Protheans' annihilation. Suffering from daily chains of negative thoughts, he wanted help, a way out.

Walking down the street to freshen himself, usually avoiding the nearby environment he would only quickly glance at women walking pass him on the rather narrow footpath. Except until this day, stunned from the sight in front of him, he glanced twice instead of once. Noticing the uniqueness and beauty the girl possessed, a different feeling about this one. He took off his hat hoody and opened up to the world around him. The girl noticed this act and looked again to find out it was the great Commander Shepard that the human race adored, a legend. Smiles were transferred causing Shepard to make the first move. As he approached this woman, eye contact was made briefly noticing the emotions in her eyes, same ones he had possessed before,  feeling like he could relate. Shepard greeted her, but stuttered as the first words came out, quite surprised as this only use to happen when he was younger and more fragile. Noticing this odd timidness, she took the lead   in conversation so Shepard could settle in comfortably.

"Wow, is that really you Commander Shepard?" stunned and curious asked the girl, "My name is Crystal, pleased to meet you" etc..

Walking apart from each other, the vulnerable commander knew she was the one, the one that could ease the mental scars. She was an average street girl working a nine to five job around thirty years looking minding her own business until the meet up. Seeking to be part of Shepard's daily life, and vice versa. She also felt that hidden connection and agreed to meet with the Commander once again.

After a few years the traumatic stress gradually faded, the love connection grew and he gained peace of mind accepting his brother in arms death. The Alliance also offered him promotion after promotion after a setback due to his past self. He was also living happily back at home with with his wife Crystal, where the love aura still lingered as he cared for her more than himself. Both happy, living a true life with no regrets or fears.

Mark's Final Fan Fiction!

It was a cold morning in Hiroshima as Haruto woke up for his first day of high school, little did he know it would be one to remember.

"Harutoooo! You're going to miss the bus!!"

Quickly Haruto ran down the stairs, grabbed his lunch and took off just in time for the bus.

"That'll be one dollar" , the bus driver says.

Haruto handed over the cash and scanned the bus for a seat. Just when he thought he was out of luck, he spotted one empty seat right at the back. Quickly he scuttles over just before someone else could take the seat. There was a young girl sitting at the seat around Haruto's age, green eyes, long black hair, and an appealing figure.

"May I take this seat?" Haruto says with a calm voice.

"I don't see why not" the mysterious girl replied.

"I'm Haruto, it's a pleasure to meet you" he said.

"Yuziki, and likewise", with a cute smile.

During the bus ride, they introduced themselves and started to get to know each other. Luckily for Haruto they are both freshman at the same high school, Hiroshima High.

"Last stop!!" the bus driver says.
One by one the students filed off the bus to find a big crowd at the school, where the beginning of the opening ceremony. Everyone was getting shoved around as soon you know it Haruto had lost sight of his recently made friend, Yuzuki.

"Yuzuki!!" he calls out, but to no avail she had gone.

So they gathered together in the hall and one by one the classes were read out. Once the classes had been dealt, all  the kids scuttled out of the auditorium and into their new home rooms. Sadly, Haruto didn't do well in his entrance exams, so he only made it to class 1-D, which the class meant for people who still need to... develop themselves academically. Up, down, left, right, Haruto looks around, quickly scanning the room for any cute girls. Suddenly Yuzuki's and Haruto's eyes met. They smiled at each other and being the gentleman he is, he walked over to say hi.

"Haruto, right?" she said.

"You remembered! Yuzuiki, yes?" Haruto replied.

"Yep! Take a seat. I don't know anyone in the class so it'd be nice to sit with someone I know" Yuzuki said.

The two began chatting and happily exchanged phone numbers. Haruto felt this feeling which he had never before. Love at first sight? Haruto thought to himself... no of course not, that is nothing but a myth. Haruto was ecstatic. Making friends at high school was Haruto's worst fear, but it turned out to be much easier than he expected.

"Good morning class, my name is Yamashita Kakashi. I will be your home room teacher for this year" the teacher said.

"Good morning Yamashita Sensei", the class happily replied.

"Here are your timetables, please learn them from tomorrows classes!" Yamashita stated.

One by one the teacher handed out their timetables. The students were excited to see who had the same classes with them and what not.

"Do you have P.E first period tomorrow?" Yuzuki softly said.

"Yes, I do! then chemistry." Haruto replied.

"Wow, same here!!" Yuzuki ecstatically replied.

The two continued to chit chat right up until the bell was about to go. The teacher had just announced that school would end first period and full classes would begin the following day. This was Haruto's chance! He could either succumb to the pressure and live his life with regret, or he could find that courage deep within him and ask to go home together with Yuzuki. The tears of heaven began to fall upon the school, it was time to go home. Haruto sat there in deep contemplation.. it was now or never he thought to himself. He turns over to Yuzuki ready to say something but to his surprise she is already looking at him. Their eyes awkwardly meet, and the two shy away from each other a bit.

"Would I be able to home with you, Haruto? I forgot my umbrella at home.. " Yuzuki shyly said.

Haruto wiped the sweat off his forehead. The hardest part had already been done for him, he felt so relieved.

"Of course Yuzuki, shall we go now?" Haruto replied.

So the two wander off and take the north exit of the school and begin to walk home. The mood is set. A high school girl and boy underneath an umbrella, bodies pressed against each other while walking in the blistering rain.  Haruto turns over to Yuzuki and said,

"So where exactly do you live? I'll escort you home first since the weather."

"Just down James Street" Yuzuki replies.

"Oh wow, I live on James Street too, I'm surprised we haven't seen each other before."

"Perfect then, shall we get going?" Yuzuki said.

So the two continued walking until they finally reached James Street. Droplets of water were dripping down on Yuzuki's head so Haruto slightly moved the umbrella to cover her beautiful face. She smiled in delight and they continued walking.

"Right here is fine, thanks Haruto!"

"My pleasure, seriously no problem at all", Haruto replied.

As Yuzuki began to walk inside she slipped because of the wet terrain. Haruto jumped over just to catch her but they both toppled on the ground, with Yuzuki ending up on top of Haruto, both drenched in rain. Their lips met and for a brief moment of time it felt like time itself had stopped. The two looked into each others eyes with mixed emotions of shock and perhaps a bit of pleasure. Yuzuki's face began to blush and just where things couldn't have gotten worse, the front to opened to find Yuzuki's mum standing there analysing the situation. Yuzuki and Haruto both looked up in embarrassment and quickly said,

"It's not what it looks like!"

Mark's 5 Fan Fiction Links!

                                                      Fan Fiction 1 - Naruto

This Naruto fan fiction features all your favourite characters such as Sasuke, Chouji, Neji, Sakura, and of course Naruto himself. This fan fiction has various chapters but for today I will just explain the first chapter. Chapter one opens with a dramatic scene of a mysterious figure carry Sasuke's injured body. Following that scene, Naruto and all the other injured ninja get taken to the hospital to get all patched up. This first chapter didn't really contain much action but was more about setting the plot for the story. The chapter concludes with Tsunade, one of the legendary ninja being confronted in her office by yet another mysterious ninja, with a proposition for her. The fan fiction ended with a nice twist and left you hanging for the next chapter. Overall I enjoyed the read and I would recommend it to a more younger audience and/or people interested in the manga Naruto.

Fan Fiction 2 - Full Metal Alchemist

This fan fiction uses the characters of the popular anime Full Metal Alchemist. Alchemists have the ability to use magic to create things out of thin air, and it can be used for both good and evil.I enjoyed this fan fiction because some of the more minor characters in the anime became major characters so I could get to know them more then I could have in the anime. The storyline flowed well and had the occasional twist in the story which is what I love. I would recommend watching the anime before reading this fan fiction as some readers may find it confusing. All in all a great fan fiction, and perfect for Full Metal Alchemist fans.

                                                Fan Fiction 3 - Heartstrings

Here we have a fan fiction following the story of the Korean drama, Heartstrings.
As the title implies, this drama plays with your heart and so does this fan fiction. In the story we
have Lee Gyu Won and Lee Shin who are a lovely couple and attend music school together. Although things seem happy on the surface, the two can fight from time to time. Also with other potential romantic flings in this fan fiction, it really makes it a fun and unpredictable story. If you want your heart to be touched, please read this fan fiction as it will do just that!

Fan Fiction 4 - Hana Yori Dango

Love and romance. Two words to perfectly describe an amusing twist to the main story. This fan fiction is based off the famous Japanese drama Hana Yori Dango. As the drama, the story features the female protagonist Tsukushi Makino who attends high school along the four "topdogs" of the school who are all wealthy in their own respect. The catch of the story is that the four males don't know that she is rich herself, being the heir to a major corporation. I found this fan fiction a great read and would definitely recommend it to any romance fans out there of all ages.

Fan Fiction 5 - Spongebob Squarepants

This fan fiction is of none other then the famous kids cartoon, Spongebob Squarepants.
In this fan fiction we get to follow the lives of your favourite characters attending high school together. Although the idea comes across as a bit cheesy, the story itself was actually quite interesting to read and was filled with plenty of jokes which is what you would expect from a Spongebob fan fiction. Most adults would find a fan fiction such as this relatively childish so I would recommend it to a more younger audience, ranging to about 15-16 year old kids.

Mean Girls Fan Fiction, Twilight Fan Fiction, Ice age Fan Fiction, 3 Idiots Fan Fiction, 101 Dalmatians Fan Fiction

Mean girls 2
Mean girls 2 fan fiction is about a teenage girl called Zoe who was home schooled until she was sixteen. When her parents finally have decided to ‘mainstream’ school her, real teenage problems rose. Zoe, the new popular girl and Ness, the ex-popular girl became friends. But when love came into the picture and the ‘Plastics’ set out to ruin everything, Zoe’s school life became a headache.

As this fan fiction was aimed at younger audience around the age of intermediate and high school, I think the writer kept it simple with a good flow. The conversation between Zoe and Ness was well set out to deliver the story better. However the storyline was not very interesting and common.

The Vampire in the Basement
This fan fiction is based on Twilight. It is about when girls were having a ‘girls’ night out’, the boys went ‘hunting’ (for blood) when they came upon a corpse. When they took the body home and showed to Carlisle, he found out that the body was actually ‘one of them’. It was what Carlisle called ‘broken vampire’. They try to fix ‘one of them’ when things didn’t turn out well.

An excellent fan fiction in my opinion. The storyline is very fresh and use of POV of the characters from original story pulled the reader more deeply into the story. The italics used for emphasis was well done as well. It naturally made the reader put their own emotion in which is one of the goals of fan fiction.

Totally Ice age: Return of the dinosaurs.
Shira and Diego the mammoths finally give birth to their long awaited cub. They decide on the name of the cub.

A very short, light storyline and the story don’t flow well unlike twilight fan fiction. I think the writer couldn’t stay on track and jumped at random, unsure moments.

3 Idiots missing scene
This fan fiction is about friendship of three Indian guys. The story continues from the movie scene where Raju jumped and is taken to the hospital. When Raju woke up, he explains everything that happened and the reason for trying to commit suicide. The two bestfriends comforts Raju and their friendship becomes stronger than ever.

I have seen the movie and this fan fiction continues naturally from the movie and really seems like a part of 3 idiots that was missing. The use of language well explains the scene and the writer has the characters’ personality spot on in his fan fiction. Although the selection of words may be a little bit complicated to younger audience, this movie was aimed at older audience and I think this fan fiction is too. To anyone who has seen the movie, this could be the best fan fiction you could read.

Cruella De Vil life after prison
Cruella De Vil is finally out of the prison in 12 years. Things have changed for both the world and Cruella herself. When she was out of the prison she tries her best to become nice person and wants redemption.

I think the idea of the story was okay. Nice flow and good use of language and characters from the main story. Although it was nice for the writer to try change Cruella's personality into a nice, happy character, it did not really suit as the original character had too strong image.
